Call them arch rivals or good competitors, the Shahrukh Khan vs. Aamir Khan War has been fought time and again over the last decade. Surprisingly there has been no clear winner because both SRK and Aamir Khan, being the perfectionist they are, have a humungous fan following.
With the slight delay in the release of Shahrukh’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi it’s again set to clash with Aamir’s Ghajini this year. The two films are also the first releases this year of both the Khans after their two respective successful films last year — Om Shanti Om and Taare Zameen Par. Both turned out to be huge commercial hits.
With the two biggest movies of the year about to clash at box office, the actors are not leaving any stone unturned in the promotion of their respective movies. Aamir Khan recently asked theatre staff of Big Cinemas and PVR, which is playing Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, to adopt the Ghajini hair cut. It is evident: you are watching Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi with the aura of Ghajini around you!
Asked what SRK thought of Aamir Khan’s recent strategy for Ghajini, Shahrukh Khan claimed, “I think it is a good strategy. You take the biggest brand in the country that is SRK and then use that platform to publicize yourself. I think Aamir rocks. The problem is that I cannot use any another brand because there is no one bigger than me”.
The cold war between the duos can very well be estimated from their comments. Addressing the media, at the launch function of Filmfare magazine’s latest issue Shahrukh said “There cannot be any competition with me. I’m the biggest brand in the country. I am always there to endorse for everyone, but the saddest part is that no one is there to endorse for me as there is no brand bigger than me.”
Reacting to Shahrukh’s statement, Aamir said: “He has been speaking about himself for last 20 years so there is nothing new about it.
Well the Bollywood industry is sure going to be in a fix, with both the Khans drawing swords at each other, but despite the result, as to who wins and who looses out, the viewers are sure to have a great time. Keep up the good work, Khans! We love you both!
